「和」について

「和」はそれ自体文化的概念となっている日本語である。 Wa (和) is a Japanese term which has become a cultural concept of its own.

「和」は、中国から伝わったとき、もともと「調和」、「平和」、「均衡」を意味していた。 日本の哲学・文化においてはいくつもの微妙に異なる意味を持つ指導的概念であった。現在でも、日本的価値としてもっとも重要だと考えられている。 Imported from Chinese, "Wa" originally meant harmony, peace, balance. It was a guiding concept in Japanese philosophy and culture with dozens of subtle different associated meanings. It is considered as the most important Japanese value.
